Dr. Akalou Woldemichael
Dr. Akalou Woldemichael is a teacher, a researcher, and a leader in his profession. He served Hailesilassie I University College in the capacity of Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of faculty of Arts, and as member of its teaching staff. At present he is a professor at Texas Southern University in the Department of History, Geography and Economics. He received his B.A in Geography from the Hailesilassie I University, his Ph.D. and Masters in geography from the University of California, and Diploma in Italian Language from the Universita Per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy. In addition to teaching, Dr. Akalou is also a published writer. From his over sixteen research papers -The Economic Impact of Residential Desegregation on Historically Black Neighborhoods in Houston, and The Role of Africa in North-South Dialogue are good examples. Dr. Akalou is a member of various professional associations,to mention a few: -The Association of American Geographer, The Americansociety of Photogrammetry, the Southwestern Social Sciences Association. Dr. Akalou has received numerous grants and awards including the Afgrad Fellow and the United States Geological Survey Study Grants to work on the latest techniques in modern digital mapping at Rolla, Missouri andReston, Virginia. Tesfay Lemma
Ato. Tesfay Lemma served the Ethiopian society for thirty years as author, composer, lyricist and artistic director and founder of Ethiopian folkloric ensembles. He is the author of TABLE TALK written in Amharic. Ato. Tesfaye also written the Ethiopian Musical Instruments booklet. In 94 & and 95 alone he composed over fifteen songs for distinguished Ethiopian performers such as Tilahuan and others. He is the founder of center for Ethiopian Arts and Culture whose purpose is to share the cultural heritage with Americans. Ato Tesfaye was also the Head of Ethiopian Musical Studies at Yared Music School in Addis Ababa.

Tiruwork A. Kebede
W/T Tiruwork A. Kebede (Mimi) is currently a first year student at Berea College, Kentucky. Mimi was a graduate of Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia. When she graduated in June of 1996, she ranked third in a class of 21. Prior to joining MMS, Mimi was an honor roll students at Wakefield High School. She finished her High School with a grade point average of 3.03. Tiruwork was a recipient of the Roots and Wings Scholarship which recogizes outstanding journalistic effort. Tiruwork's achievement is special because she succeeded without the benefit of College educated parents or siblings. Bravo Mimi! Let our children follow your example.
