By her act of kindness, she has appealed to our collective conscience to do good for others. By the nobility and courage of her act, she has enabled a fellow Ethiopian to have a healthier and longer life. Her high moral integrity, broad sympathies and selfless deportment, has won her the love and affection of the Ethiopian Community and beyond. Fanaye is a graduate of Morhead State University in Minnesota and has pursue a Masters degree at the University of Iowa. She is an educator (teacher) by profession. She has taught at Fill Haven Elementary, Cooper Elementary and Fairoak Middle School for a total over 11 years. Since 1989, she has been teaching bilingual students in the Washington D.C. area. In 1995 she opened a private Educational Center to mainly help young students in her community. Over 50 of her Ethiopian students have been able to achieve honors and recognition when they finished school. Fanaye is an active member of her church and the Ethiopian Community.
